BPL’s approach to projects draws heavily on the mindset that shapes our BPL training programs, combined with the results-oriented and business-focused thinking that Michèle and Signe bring from their engineering backgrounds.
When you first reach out to them with a project, their first question will usually be about the goal: What does the end situation look like in your mind?
Next, they will explore the current reality: Are there specific forms or procedures that must be followed? Are there particular issues to consider? What is the story behind the project? How much time is available? What is the complexity of the task? How does it link to other activities?
All of this is to ensure that together you can agree on the “Conceptual Design” for how the project will be approached, as well as BPL’s role, responsibilities, and deliverables.
Depending on the size and scope of the assignment, they will typically come back with a “Basic Design” for the project solution, so you can align expectations and get started.
CHANGE MINDSET?!
“If we do what we’ve always done, we end up where we’ve always ended up.” – a Chinese proverb.
One of the first questions a leader should ask when driving change is whether it’s about adjusting the existing situation or exploring completely new paths.
The same question applies when approaching a specific project: Do you need extra hands for a while to accomplish a specific task, or do you need the project examined from a new perspective – or a combination of both?
These are also the types of questions Michèle or Signe will typically ask when you meet with them.....
